They don't. As long as you let them know, preferably beforehand, but at least after the fact.
It is practically impossible to get yourself sanctioned without deserving it - 99% of sanctions are for physical attacks on jobcentre staff.
That said, the basic concept of 'sanctions' is idiotic.
