Their yields at TSMC have probably become sufficiently good that it is no longer the issue that it was.
Note though that we still don't have figures on how big these 8 core complexes are and they are still using the modular design, just stuffing more cores in the module. So it might be that these complexes are not too much bigger.
Another point might be that they have cleverly figured out how to utilise more defective cores usefully on lower level SKUs through redesign of the layout. Just spitballing there.
