winds me up when i get an IM that simply says Hi,

They go to the bottom of my list.

my IM's start

Hi <Name>,

i'm trying to do XYZ & <colleague> said you could help me out. Any chance you can blah blah blah.

at least give peole a chance to mull other stuff from the initial hello.
