During the crisis meeting the following Monday the first thing the head of facilities pointed out was that I couldn't sue anyone as the UPS was the spec facilities had ordered so the vendor was in the clear and I couldn't sue him as he was an internal "business unit"
You could (and should) have reported that head of facilities to the CFO, properly done and with all necessary documentation he would have been out on his arse in nothing flat. And if it happened in the correct jurisdiction, his pension would have gone to pay for the extra costs.
