For a "true up-front cost" Epson EcoTank consumer printer:

Genuine Epson T6641 70ml black ink - £8.65

For a subsidized cartridge-based Epson consumer printer:

Genuine Epson T0711 7.4ml black ink - £10.49

I'm afraid the evidence somewhat contradicts your beliefs! (and yes, that is 70ml v 7.4ml)
