In WW2 when the US left the Philippines owing to the Japanese, MacArthur announced he'd be back. He was and a lot of filipino/as died.
2020 and South Korea and Taiwan,two other places taken over by Japan, are doing pretty well. The Philippines with all that US "help" have a much lower standard of living and a repressive government.
I hope India is paying attention.
