If you are simulating hurricanes or nuclear bombs, if you are raytracing a scene, or trying to fold proteins or a hash collisions, sure. If you are running a desktop NOT doing the above, or things like that, not at all so much.

It turns out that most code is shockingly "near-linear". We have very few places where having 100 cores makes any sense at all.

Numa systems can be viewed as having no main memory, just an L4 cache on each processor. And cache timing attacks are inherent in having a cache.
