Computers designed to be independent.

I hope these were designed like this to ensure redundancy, so that no single spurious signal can disable both at the same time.

This was a good thing, by any chance, right?

That's why you have 2 independent brains inside meat bags called pilots, right? Yes, they can talk to each other, but one single spoiled plate of food can't disable both.

Ah forget it, I suck at analogies.

But back to my point: I hope those independent computers were built like that to make sure they don't fail for the same reason.
