The problem is that all the disks in a RAID array are likely to fail at about the same time if those SSDs were all purchased together 4 years ago. Normally you would be confident that a failed drive in a suitably redundant RAID array is no big deal because you simply remove the bad drive, plug in a new drive and less than a day later it's all sync'ed up. Even worse, if all the hardware were purchased together (which is a commonplace situation), then the disks in several mirror servers located hundreds of miles apart would also fail, meaning that your very expensive multi-redundacy setup is no guard whatsoever against total failure and data loss.
