Funny you should say that. A few times I've looked at the members of a company's board (usually looking for a name to complain to) it's appeared to me that they were, by and large, vaguely generic. Even when they'd been promoted from within the company I got the impression that for the most part they could have been senior managers in any company doing anything.
What I didn't get an impression of was a committee of the knowledgeable about that business. The main qualification for being on the board seemed to be "the right sort of chap" preferably with an MBA.
I dunno. Just an impression.
