I was doing the same, fortunately xBase did actually store the century.

Was also playing a lot with SET EPOCH as we were dealing with dates both in the past (DoB) and in the future (appointment date) so wanted to help users to interpret 2 digit years correctly.

Took the opportunity to move from Clipper 87 to Clipper 5 and add Extendbase and other goodies. All completed by 1996 when I moved to do it all again for a new employer.
