That's exactly how shorting Sterling works:
1) Borrow £1M
2) Convert the sum into US Dollars
3) Wait for the value of the Pound to collapse
4) Convert those Dollars back into a substantially higher amount of Pounds than you started with
5) Pay back the loan
6) Pocket the profit
