..them in a completely separate fireproof enclosure to everything else and a blowoff panel or two, just in case.

Apart from the obvious, the not-so-obvious is what happens when they're overcharged and boil, leaving a fine mist of sulfuric acid everwhere - at that point you find ALL the wiring insulation turns black, making any kind of decoding the wiring an "interesting" task (Been there, done that, wrote off £75k worth of kit - not my installation/design, so not my problem - and 200 other near-identical sites got a rapid refit.)
