Without any need of going TOR - there are many shades of privacy. We've seen data hoarder employ any technique they can to build profiles. There's a risk to make their life easier (and our worse).
Remember that not all traffic is HTTP/HTML - but if they can get your address from HTTP/HTML traffic - as you note - then they can match it to all the non-HTTP/HTML traffic until the IP changes as well. It's another source of information which could be easily exploited. If they can identify you from non-encrypted traffic, they can track your encrypted traffic endpoints, for example.
Before Google and Facebook (and the whole business they spawned) nobody would have really worried about it. Today, it's a bit different.
