In short, he was arrested twice, once with extreme force by a SWAT team, and spent months in prison. But the computer said it was him, so tough luck.

In the case of Charles de Menezes the police seem to have been operating under such a state of hysteria that you can quite easily see a dodgy facial recognition match leading to a shooting, it's not at all far off what actually happened.
