The decision to switch off an existing safety system moves this to the realm of criminal behavior. The safety system was presumably developed and tested with a careful methodology e.g. MISRA. There is quite a bit of evidence from court documents that Uber development ignored safety. There is other evidence that the Uber system was a sham demo largely based on careful mapping, close to a screenshot slideshow of a proposed system.
This is a huge disservice to the development teams that *are* treating safety as the very top priority.
