Rumours are rife that a generation of products will have to be redesigned, at unknowable expense and delaying next-generations products by un-guessable amounts of time.
Rumours are also rife (well, I've seen a few people say stuff on Twitter. @dakami for instance https://twitter.com/dakami/status/954015056651460609) that Meltdown and Spectre are really just the first of an entire class of vulnerabilities in current CPU architectures and there's a lot more of this sort of caper to come this year.
