Wrong, as one who has worked as a software engineer we worked in a engineering environment along side the electrical, hardware and mechanical engineers on industrial process control systems. We used exactly the same processes and discipline as all the other engineers.
We needed to, our software was controlling some extremely expensive, dangerous plant.
