Javascript's use case is nearly unique in the IT world. It's almost the only language that has to consider backwards compatibility for many millions of users with older browsers. Those other languages generally don't run in browsers and are mostly free to upgrade quickly.
So when someone suggests javascript isn't as good as the non-browser languages, it's like saying robots are better than people because robots don't have to use the loo.
