Outsourcing IT operations is basically just a way to cover up poor quality IT management at a senior level. The idea is to pass on control and supervision to a service provider who claims to specialise in that sort of thing. The truth is, however, that the service provider is no better at managing systems, demand or staff - but now there’s lawyers and contract managers between service buyer and service provider who’s sole role is to “mitigate”. Not to fix issues, not to prevent issues just to maximise or minimise service credits depending on which side they work for.
Sooner or later the service provider works out that giving a poor service and paying service credits is cheaper than actually having the people with the expertise to run a good service. DXC is certainly there now and I’m sure they’re not alone.
