It's simple:
A Kilobyte is 1024 bytes, unless you're talking about network speed ( where 1 Kbps is 1000 bits per second) or hard drive capacity (1 Megabyte = some random value close to, but probably under, 1 million bytes) .
A Kibibyte is...no.
