With ratios like that, the idea of farm hand as a separate job from farm manager has all but evaporated."The percentage of the population involved in farming has declined from over 50% to around 1%. And there's a shortage of farmhands. My neighbour (apple orchardist and beef cattle) told me he's selling up. Neither of his sons are interested in taking over.
