For the most part we make the rules our servers operate by. For servers owned by somebody else, somebody else makes the rules. And those rules will --always-- prioritize the objectives of the those who own those servers, not our objectives. "Their" business plan is not "our" business plan.
The ultimate objective of any private enterprise is to serve the needs of customers only --just-- enough to retain those customers, at minimal possible cost, while diverting as much money as possible from customer objectives. This is the ideal convergence point for a given enterprise. That objective is not our objective, as customers.
Add more layers of business plans with unaligned objectives does not fundamentally seem like a good idea.
