Productive need not be a problem.
Plenty of reports that the Nissan plant in Sunderland is the most productive in Europe.
Maybe the generally crap UK productivity is linked to all the dismal layers of inept management rather than the people at the sharp end who are typically stuck having to do what they are told or be out on their ear.
