Actually Google is Ford priced in a market that is Porsche priced.
And yet they're pulling out because it doesn't work for them.
Matt is right (there's a comment I never thought I'd type), the commentards here may think they want/need fast connectivity, but for the vast majority or ordinary folks today 4-6Mbit/s is adequate. My Mum doesn't stream HD video, or download Linux distros, she just wants to read mail & do an online shop. Hell, even I can get by with my 3Mbit/s DSL-in-the-sticks connection, and I do software development from home at times.
Maybe there'll be some future killer app where we just have to equate 100Mbit/s broadband with water & electicity service, but today there just aren't enough people willing to pay Porsche prices for it, either directly to ISPs or via their taxes.
