Not give a personality-challenged ego-maniac access to mess up things? Switch to a distribution that doesn't use systemd? Use *BSD? Not give one company the power to take desktop linux in the same (failed) direction that Windows has gone with more and more obfustication and disdain for anything that doesn't fit the lead programmers world view?
Systemd is a sledgehammer to crack a nut and explicitly violates one of the prime tenets of unix/linux ("do one thing well") and reduces the ability to have human-readable inputs and outputs. Sure - yes - you *can* have text logs, but it isn't the default. And to respond to the earlier point about security - if someone already owns the box to the extent that they can fake text log entries, they can surely fake binary log entries..
