US roads tend to have more humps, and even without the bars, trucks frequently get stuck on them. Furthermore, many of these humps are at railroad crossings, meaning a trailer stuck on a hump runs the risk of getting subsequently smashed by a train.

And no, the humps can't be fixed because the roads are locally maintained by communities on tight budgets.
