FWIW my Galaxy S5 (bought SIM free quite recently) is on Android 6.0.1 with security patches to 1 May 2016.
Currently on Tesco PAYG.
Although my Sony Xperia Z tablet (1st generation) still gets updates it is only on Android 5.1.1
