if you had to press a button to turn the fridge on, what happens after a power cut?
My freezers have a power on button, if power is off for more than a few hours and/or the internal temperature rises to a critical threshold (ie. the door has been left open), it will either power off totally or won't power back on. It's a feature to do with food safety and preventing the refreezing of unfrozen food.
