Come for the hubris, stay for the cognitive dissonance! A standard argument for the 2nd Amendment is:
"If you ban guns then only the criminals will have guns."
...and then they need their own logic explained to them (Again!)? Back in 1998 I had a nice sideline retrofitting proper encryption into borked American software that couldn't be exported with credible security built in.
