I use mine for development and for work (Office, ERP etc.) and it doesn't overheat. Yes, it gets hot sometimes when compiling or doing photo editing and the fan comes on, wow the fans come on when it gets warm, just like it is designed to! That isn't overheating! Overheating is when the whole thing freezes or the device shuts itself off to protect itself.
I'm looking forward to see what the Pro 4 brings. If they really manage to get Skylake without fans, that would be excellent, as long as it doesn't suffer from the throttling problems the first genration of Core M devices suffered from.
