It's a pain in the ASCII, so what can be done to make patching easier?

@LDS

I think the freetards, myself included, believe that the Metro or WhateverIt'sCalledThisWeek interface is a consumer interface that has nothing to do in a work environment. Windows 8+ and Windows Server 2012 (ROFLMAO) are consumer OS'.

Linux only needs to be rebooted when either:

* kernel gets updated

* glibc gets updated

Those two are about it ... compare that to the three reboots required to update a printer driver or browser on Windows.

I have PostgreSQL on my Linux system, guess what, it gets updated/patched via the repository. Same for MariaDB as well as a number of other useful databases. Oracle DB is a "pain" to update, just like the Windows version of Oracle you have to go and download the patch unless you use the XE version (there are repositories with the XE version), HOWEVER, no rebooting three times bullshit. The same goes for Sybase, BTW, and again, no reboots required.

The problem is Windows file locking and VERY flaky driver load/unload support, Plug&Pray ... they completely fucked those up.

I have trained MCSE's, I know Windows.
