back to article Osborne bids nation fill his Budget portal

Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne wants to crowdsource ideas for the Budget. A breathless announcement tells us that ideas sent via the "online Budget portal" will go "direct to the desks of the Treasury officials working on the Budget". Whether firing a spam-cannon at presumably already busy civil servants is really …

    Growth requires two things

    Stability and low taxes.

We have sufficient stability, so low tax is all that's left to do. George, if you can sort that, that'd be fab thanks.

      @ John Square

Stability? When the economy contracted by 0.5% last quarter (a figure which may yet be revised DOWN)? With a tax take so impaired that we're having to borrow 12% of GDP PA? Troll somewhere else, baby.

    FAIL

    FAIL FAIL FAIL

This is in response to criticism from outgoing CBI head amongst many others, that the Tories had insufficient ideas for growth to fill a white paper earlier in the year.

If they had no ideas for growth, why did they go into government? What does Slasher Osborne think he is doing in the role exactly? What was in his mind when he mulled over what chancellorship meant? We need an economist in no 11 - NO NOT YOU JOHN REDWOOD.

    Here's an idea...

When is Georgey-boy going to force somebody to pay me to work, and stop me being a drain on the state?

    Spam cannon deployed

I have fired already so we shall see if the chancellor adopts my incredibly well thought out proposals.

    I suspect probably not.

    low taxes

@John Square Looking at Norway it would not seem that low taxes affect growth much at all. http://www.inc.com/magazine/20110201/in-norway-start-ups-say-ja-to-socialism_Printer_Friendly.html

Thanks for that, do we form an orderly queue and will you provide the pineapples or should we choose our own suppositories for him?

    How about...

Stop ideological vandalism like selling off the forests and cutting local public services just because they exist. History has proved repeatedly that it doesn't work. Try investing in the economy instead of hacking at it with an axe and expecting business to pick up the pieces.

Yet another way of wasting money

God [insert religious or non-religious deity here] help us all!

Did you know it actually COSTS THE TAXPAYER MONEY to process all these ideas as civil servants have to stop doing other things and process them in un-necessarily bureacratic ways?

Did you also know that of all the thousands and thousands of rubbish ideas that were submitted last time, almost without exception, abolutely non of them were adopted? Or were being done anyway.

Is the public sector meant to be saving money or just finding new ways of wasting it in ways that will keep the politicos happy?

Crowdsourcing != a comments submission form

If we're all going to jump onto this crowdsourcing bandwagon then let's at least take the time to make the distinction between a comments submission form and a solution designed to help offload discussion of important topics and their potential solutions onto the general public.

    Missing the point?

See, what happens after a change in UK government is the backlash of pent up frustrations.

So, at the moment, aspirations towards a neo-fascist UK state and frustrations since 1997 means that this neo-fascism has to be somewhat disguised.

You've got the PR (upstairs n downstairs) you've got the message (servants n masters).

Why don't we just play the game nicely and get on with it?

    I hope I am wrong :-(

    RE: It's official.

Could you please tell us under what name Mr Cameron has been posting on the Daily Mail's website?
