back to article DUI suspect was watching porn DVD

An Indianoplis man was pulled in by cops last week for drunk driving while watching porn. Actually, he was only charged with drunk driving – Indiana law not appearing to have a law governing the viewing of smut while hurtling down the highway while nominally in control of a tonne-and-a-half of car. At least not at the moment …

    No law applicable

That's a good thing isn't? Who needs a law stating that you can't drive while watching porn and pulling one of at the same time. Surely it comes under driving without due care and attention.

I'd be happy living in a place that uses some common sense: where there isn't a new law de jour.

"Surely it comes under driving without due care and attention."

Well, I'm sure it comes under something anyway...

    LOL

I think he was trying to shoot one off before been pulled over by the cops

It may seem rather hard on him...

... but I hope he receives a stiff penalty.

    WTF?

    "Without due care and attention"?

Watching anything on DVD while driving (whether it is 'porn' is irrelevant) would constitute an offense in the UK, not paying attention to the road.

    Perhaps?

    He should have pulled-off into a lay-by

    WTF?

    "drunk driving while watching porn."

"viewing of" ... anything other than the road ... "while hurtling down the highway while nominally in control of a tonne-and-a-half of car ... is driving without due care and attention.

So they will let him off, if he can prove he has powerful friends in politics, or burn him at the stake, if he is one of the little people.

As for the legal definition, its in the Wikipedia, so it must be true! ;)

i.e. "Driving without due care and attention or careless driving is a moving traffic violation. As a legal term, it is used within the United States and the United Kingdom. It is usually a less serious offence than reckless driving (also known as dangerous driving) though more serious than driving whilst using a mobile phone. It is often punishable by fines and/or endorsements on a driver's license."

But then moron wankers such as this Prime Example (Primate Example?) also often end up winning their own Darwin award!

Never mind due care and attention

The "drifting left of centre" is a capital offence in the USA, is it not?

...you are about to witness the ravishment of a woman...

Reminds me of a Jackie Chan scene from Cannonball Run

    Serves him right

We need to take a stand and come down hard on this sort of thing. There's been quite enough of the velvet glove treatment, now it's time for the clenched fist! If anyone sees someone they know doing this, they need to finger the little scrote. And not just blokes either - I hear there's problems with lesbian shoe fetishists, and we mustn't pussyfoot around this problem.

    Unaddressed in article

It's not clear from the article whether he was... err.... manual, or automatic?

    No law ?

I cal BS. Lets call it some like I don't know reckless driving . Since he was drunk lets make it felony

Reckless driving or dangerous driving is a major moving traffic violation. As a legal term, it is used within the United States and the United Kingdom. It is usually a more serious offense than careless driving, improper driving, or driving without due care and attention and is often punishable by fines, imprisonment, and/or driver's license suspension or revocation.

So the driver is 53 years of age

I wonder if he's been driving ever since he was just a little squirt.

    Yep..

Reckless driving. For some reason, the police here in the states will not charge for this. They want to ban texting while driving too, instead of just enforcing the already existing law against reckless driving, distracted driving, etc., that are already on the books.

    Lots of funny things...

Far out... driving a car, drunk, and while watching a porno and masturbating....

I mean I don't even have the radio on when making a phone call - because I like to have NO distractions....

If he was so desperate to pull himself he could have at the very least pulled over...

As for the drink driving.... bring back ruthless beatings with the night sticks.
