back to article Sex offender downloads child pr0n to get back into prison

A novel approach to finding accommodation was revealed by a convicted sex offender this week – as it was explained in court on Monday that he had downloaded child porn in order to be sent back to prison. David Clark, 54, of Willington Green in Maidstone complained to all and sundry - including his MP - that despite his putting …

    I'm not surprised

When the extreme cartoon porn act bites, sending innocent people to jail, this story will become common place. You life is in the trashcan, you cannot get a job. You are monitored 24/7. You may as well settle on 3 squares a day and a warm roof over you head.

      WTF?

      Re: I'm not surprised

What happens once everyone is in prison becuase we have made too many laws and there is now no legal way to live your life? Will they finally see sense then and repeal some of the more moronic ones?

"What happens once everyone is in prison becuase we have made too many laws and there is now no legal way to live your life?"

That's exactly what they want. That means they can blackmail into doing whatever whim they decide is important RIGHT NOW so you can all dance like good little puppets.

"Will they finally see sense then and repeal some of the more moronic ones?"

Of course not. That just means unemployment figures will be at record lows, eh? You are either in gaol or part of the prison system keeping them in line.

      Prison, it could be worse

it'll be even worse when they get put on registers that are distributed to the public. Whether they did it or not, who wants to get hounded for the rest of their lives. 'Reformed' sex offenders are better off leaving the country ATM... just not to USA, I hear they still have lynchings.

The simplest way to stay in prison is to kill someone and deny doing it, get convicted for it but always deny doing it (hell even video record it, just verbally deny it). As long as you deny doing it against all evidence, they will never let you out.

The sticking point is people that actually didn't do it and have to much pride to lie and tarnish what's left of their life... they also never get out. Wrongful conviction + pride = dying in prison.

BOT; I hear they get it rather cushy too. PS2/xbox, TV, education, any books and videos they want as long as they behave... TBH rather tempted myself. Free food and clothes for life.

"a person engaging in sexual intercourse with a live animal, believed to have been a horse."

Er... Horses are pretty distinguishable - 4 legs, tail, mane, long face, answer to the name of dobbin. Mind you, it could be they didn't see the animal's face (from the front).

Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm on my way... It's the one with the copy of Equus in the pocket.

Out of purely scientific curiousity . . .

is it likely that the 'horse' was at all bothered by this activity? Apart from perfectly normal (whatever that is) distaste for the idea of this conjunction what actual offence is there?

I apologise if my innocence in these matters causes any offence.

So don't they beat sex offenders any more?

I was always under the impression that people who were in prison for sex offences were beaten and abused by the other inmates and the guards -- is this no longer the case? If so it seems odd that someone, even if homeless, would rather face that than another night on the street -- especially when they could just shoplift or something.

      Minor point of order

The guy was already convicted on two counts prior. So presumably he knows what he's in for. He'll also be registered on the sex offenders list, which is, presumably, more of a stigma outside than dwelling inside on sex offences.

This I thus take as a sign of what the ``tough on stuff'' stance will take ever more of us to, and I applaud the man for taking the rational approach. Neither is a happy life, so pick the least of two evils. If that turns out to be an "obviously wrong" choice to the rest of us, it's clear that our elected politicians' system has failed us.

      People, take heed.

...a minor point, but with a chilling insinuation...

...so to pursue your point to the bitter end, wouldn't a paedophile roughing it in some hostel, and hankering for a window with bars on again actually find it more gratifying to really molest a child in order to get sent back to prison? Not to mention get a more secure conviction, etc.

Wonderful, that's really cheered my day up.

        Not...

      nah

paedos etc get on a special wing, for their protection. this is much easier than for all other convicts.

btw - from my experience 1/2 the screws are as if not more corrupt than the people they look after. i have seen screws pay cons to give people a good kicking and i have seen them throw people down several flights of stairs. and they steal from the conns too!

its not all cushy either. admittedly its been 10+ years since i was in HMP liverpool (walton) but there was massive differences between jails back then.

we didnt even have leccy in our cells, when in manchester they had tvs and psxs (their own btw - they dont supply them for you!). and we were locked up for 23 hours a day

      WTF?

      Why not?

So because he can afford a 200 quid Laptop he should be able to find a house? I don't follow your logic.

      Thumb Down

      And?

What's your point? A cheap laptop costs maybe £200 - £300, monthly rent can be anywhere upwards of £450 depending on where you are, so I can't say I find this surprising.

    Sick, lying shitbag

His justification makes no sense. If you're desperate to go back to jail then you download some KP and then hand yourself over to plod, you don't download the entire contents of 300 sites then wait for three years.

Second, nobody 'deserves' a council house. They're allocated on the basis of need, with children and the infirm placed in higher regard than single males capable of work. This is especially true if said single male is a sex offender. He was perfectly at liberty to get a private tenancy, council houses still require rent and rates, they're not free and the wait for one is long. How did he intend to pay rent on this magical council house? Applying for LHA would've enabled to him to rent any accommodation he could find vacant, so all this bullshit about viewing filth because he was too stupid or idle to realise that council housing is not free or infinite, is just an excuse for a pig caught in the act of wallowing in filth.

Amusing comments but there is a serious point as well

Newly released prisoner (although it did take 2 years to get him wound up enough to do this) + no permanent home +doubtful job prospects -> desire to *want* to go back to prison.

At c£35k/PA of UK taxpayers money.

AFAIK one of the new super-duper Offender Management Systems (The one the UK GAO described as a "Masterclass in poor project management") aims was joined up handling of the newly released (so the 5000 non UK residents could come straight out of the prison gate into the van taking them to the airport) which cost UK taxpayers c£400m (Nice work EDS as was).

Their new version IIRC is scoped at c£200m but will remain 3 separate systems (consolidated from standalone systems per prison) and *might* have a nationality field included.

Anyone think he's the *only* person whose decided prison is better than living for 2 years in what I suspect is a hotel (and which AFAIK in the UK can charge market rates for the room he's in. Knowing you're living in a dump and the owner is charging through the nose for the priviledge)

BTW UK repeat offenders were c66% under the last Conservative government. Under Labor that went up to 77%.

EDS (now HP). The company that just keeps giving (customers S£$t).

    2-300 sites?

Gosh, lucky there was such a wide selection of sites for him to peruse. He might have got bored otherwise and started looking at normal pr0n.

I'm assuming the plod will do something about the sites used? Or maybe it's a giant honeypot designed to get more fiddlers in the clink.

  15. Rogerborg

    Total twonk

He could have tweeted a joke about blowing up and airport and got arrested far quicker.

  16. Citizen Kaned

    or....

he could have just thumped a copper. they take that pretty seriously. of course he might have been found dead like others who tried this.

    no sympathy for him tho!

many UK laws are garbage (drugs ones for instance) but anyone like him deserves fuck all from us. there is no place in society for him.

i say send him back to nick but stop him being allowed 'on the rule' (protection) - he wont last long.
