    Don't make a monopoly bigger

    Broadcom is a monopoly. Making it bigger with the addition of VMware would certainly increase Cloud competition, but at the same time help to kill off any Ethernet, Fibre Channel or other communication protocol adapter manufactures. Look at what happened to QLogic as an example.

    "Broadcom will gain thousands of small and medium-sized businesses with this acquisition, which diversifies their revenue and reduces risks," the analyst firm wrote. "They are likely to go the extra mile to retain this market. These customers should be in an ideal spot to have their voices heard."

    Except for the fact that Broadcom has already stated their intentions lie in the opposite direction, to focus on their largest "whale" customers and screw the little guys.
