back to article 3D laser maths models of women's bodies produced

Top Japanese mathematical modelling boffins have used the latest in 3D computing to achieve a much better grasp of women's bodies. Kensuke Nakamura of Kyoto Institute of Technology and Takao Kurokawa of Osaka University say that a truly accurate 3D mathematical picture of the female form has thus far been lacking. The duo say …

Did you mean seat of panties?

    Still won't help

If women don't get properly fitted. Hopefully this might mean the end to girls wearing bigger bras than they can with a massive gap you could fit a mellon in.

    Gussetless article

I seem to remember seeing something like this on Tomorrows World.

El Reg is so last century.

When it comes to ladies lingerie

these are not the sort of 'nips' I'm usually thinking about!

    Curiously

the paper doesn't appear even as "forthcoming" (ie reviewed and accepted) on the Journal website. So this means ... "journalism" based on what? Nothing but a press release?

    Sad isn't it...

The things some guys do to meet girls... and get them to take all their clothes off.... Arse! why didn't I think of that one.

    I didn't know...

...that TheRegister (Of Radio 4 Today programme fame) had enough articles to justify a 'lingerie' category.

Things you learn on a Friday.

    Journalism

Hey, journalism based on nothing but a press release isn't as bad as it gets. At least half of journalism is based on another journalist's report which was originally based on nothing but a press release.

But you're quite right, I didn't exactly unleash the Sunday Times Insight Team on this one.

I dunno - it just seemed like it wasn't really all that important a story, somehow.

achieve a much better grasp of women's bodies.

And after all, isn't that what we're all after?

A gap big enough fit a... _melon_ in?

    That was a joke, right?

Paris, because from what I've seen, her melons are practically nonexistent.

psssh. C'mon Reg, you can't take the moral high-ground on other people's ribald remarks. Where would this great site be if it didn't have its head in the stars and its mind in the gutter...

    So you're telling me...

"principal component analysis and cluster analysis to classify trunk characteristics"

So they sat around staring at breasts then had a chat about it with their mates and ended up with stonking boners?

intrusive? my imagination is apparently lacking.

Pun intended. So "a truly accurate 3D mathematical picture of the female form has thus far been lacking" ? So glad the top boffins of our day are tackling the really big issues - I can't believe we have managed so far without one! I mean for 10,000 years plus we have been shuffling around in ill fitting garments resembling empty crisp packets tripping on our trouser hems and wrinkling up our baggy shirts

    1) How many women have bodies that actually conforms to a mathematical standard?

    2) How is this going to prevent anyone buying ill-fitting garments?

    3) What happens when someone loses/gains the odd few pounds

I don't think japanese bespoke tailors will be committing seppuku with their scissors just yet
