re: the median time spent was actually just over 15 minutes.

So this is a survey of devs who had about 15 minutes to fuck arse around answering questions on a survey.

What do the Devs who are doing the work use?

Wow, who knew that people a) take breaks or b) don't work 24 hours per day and have weekends or c) slow tooling, d) an off day, etc. Muppet.

You seemed to have unresolved issues... But you sure seem to have a lot of free time to fuck arse around answering comments on your comments on a news site. I can only assume you're not among those "doing the work", eh?

Says the person who's found the time to post 3711 times - pity the poor devs covering for you whilst you goof off.

    Apparently...

    92% of respondents were male

    Only 11% were over 45

47% described themselves as "full stack" developers

Systems Administrators and Project Managers have around 4 more years coding experience than developers

The once ubiquitous perl is languishing at 2%

APL still exists and is only slightly less popular than COBOL and FORTRAN

Just to pluck a few results at random. I'm sure this says a lot about Stack Overflow users, less sure how to extrapolate to the industry as a whole.

    Erm... Maths?

"Linux passed macOS to take second place with 40 percent of responses compared to Apple's 33 percent"

So if Linux had 40%, MacOS had 33% then Windows must have had 151% of the remaining 27% in order to have come out ahead of Linux...

Several of my products run on Windows, macOS and Linux, so I would have ticked all three.

I very much doubt this is particularly rare.

    WTF?

    461 had never visited StackOverflow

    How did they recruit respondents?
