back to article FCC gives Pacific Networks 60 days to leave the US

Chinese telco Pacific Networks and its subsidiary ComNet must cease all services within the United States within 60 days from Wednesday March 16 following an order issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In a canned statement, the FCC cited "potential security threats" as the justification for its action, which …

    But of course

"The FCC also expressed concerns about Beijing gaining access to communications and associated data and using it for nefarious ends – including espionage."

    Obviously.

The NSA is the only authority that has the right to gain access to communications and associated data and use it for nefarious ends - especially espionage.

    Duh.

It helps that if the US government makes a big song and dance about trying to protect US interests, it's good PR. Nevermind that what they're undoubtedly protecting includes their own spying.

That horse has already bolted, of course. But there always exists the question of how many are still in the stable.

Fox - Hen house: what can go wrong?

"The record of this proceeding shows that the Companies have worked cooperatively and well with Executive Branch oversight," argued Jeffrey Carlisle, counsel for Pacific Network and ComNet.

Oh yeah. The current executive branch headed by the age-addled "Big Guy" whose drug addled son was bought and paid for by the Chinese government. Wink wink nudge nudge.

Of all stupid arguments, this must be the absolute dumbest. What you are saying is that President Biden, in service to his Chinese overlords, is kicking Chinese companies out of the US market? Is that really your argument? Out of curiosity, what body part are you wearing your pants on? It's your head, isn't it?

Oh no siree. You obviously haven't heard the claim that Biden contracted the Chinese through Fauci to get them to inflict Covid on the world so Trump would lose the election.

Seriously. Is there an El Reg unit for degree of insanity?

“ The agency concluded that the companies, which it deemed US subsidiaries of Chinese state-owned entities, are "subject to exploitation, influence and control by the Chinese government" and "highly likely" to be forced into complying with requests from Beijing without independent judicial oversight.”

    Bogon

Simply put, the Biden Administration has decided to extend tRump's harmful trade war with China, so has encouraged the FCC in this unfounded move based on bogus security arguments.

I do not understand why Biden doesn't see how foolish this trade war is, especially now he's got a real war to worry about.
