back to article Wipro, Infosys and TCS feel pain of staff attrition as the Great Resignation continues

Three of India's IT service giants – Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and Wipro – held results calls yesterday revealing a booming business with room for multiple players. Although the companies faced the highest attrition rates in three years and were forced to raise hiring targets, increasing use of technology …

Wonder how long we have left?

"We see, in the medium term, a tremendous opportunity for an efficient mix because clients have also seen that, once the work is done remotely or work from home, that more opportunity exists for that work to be done from a location farther away."

Yep, there it is. Combine the rush to cloud with a little FOMO and a few sprinkles of doubt about whether your workers are working from home. It's the perfect recipe for a repeat of the early 2000s "Great Offshoring" that happened after the dotcom bust. These are usually 10 year contracts they get companies locked into...so it's going to be a rough patch in the 2020s for IT.

I'm still trying to figure out why there's an endless supply of companies willing to sign deals with these places. Only thing I can think of is that people have their memories wiped when a new generation of MBAs comes in and promises billions in savings.

If you're in Blighty why on earth would you leave to go and work in London?

Especially now all the London jobs are becoming available to people working from home in affordable locations?

I can foresee another dot com bust coming when the belated realisation that companies like Just Eat, Tesla, Square and other overvalued barely make a profit companies where competitors have caught them up.

Also Apple/Amazon/Microsoft/Tesla/Alphabet and Meta make up a quarter of the value of the S & P 500.

Unfortunately IT is a global business and has always been. Technology and comms just drive it.

Otherwise the U.K. (other than HMG) would be still be running ICL Mainframes, Acorn RISCOS ubiquitously on the desktop, have ARM powered mobile devices in your pocket ;-) and we’d be outsourcing to Compower in Cannock and not ATOS in Cannock.

    Social dumping

How much is the average salary at TCS, Infosys, and Wipro?

Median might be better measure, there will be the managment (and probably some TUPE'd employees) that will skew the average.

Given not that there have been number of articles on the three and attrition and alleged "pay hikes", we can probably deduce something.
