    Yuanna pick a fight?

Nope. Those companies in the AIC will cave in the short run. In the long run they will only invest in HK to the extent needed (and allowed) to capture China market share. Which might be quite a lot.

Many of these companies are banned in China anyway. The only difference is that so far, they had not yet been banned in HK.

Strictly speaking they are not banned; they have the option of operating there under Chinese law, and some used to do so. The legal requirements around handling and sharing data of Chinese citizens changed in 2009 though; most of the overseas social media outfits were not compliant and so got blocked. They have the option to go back, but following the laws in question wouldn't play well in home markets.

    The Asia Internet Coalition

Chock full of tech titans who are absolutely not based in Asia.

Oh well, that looks just like the French National Football Team (soccer, for the rest of you) which is chock full of players who were absolutely not born on French soil.

Business as usual then, carry on !

    Well there you have it

Big tech has flat out said they really don't care about anyone's privacy.

    Quite the Frankenstein they've created.

Seems no-one has actually bothered t read what The Asia Internet Coalition has actually said. Here is a more balanced report

You will note there are lots of coulds and perhapses. Interestingly when other countries propose or enact similar legislation it is considered normal and necessary. do you remember Trump's and Jackson Cosko's doxxing?
