back to article If you can't log into Azure, Teams or Xbox Live right now: Microsoft cloud services in worldwide outage

Unlucky netizens are right now unable to log into Microsoft's online services, including Azure, Teams, Dynamics, and Xbox Live, due to an ongoing global outage. DNS and certificates, two things people find really difficult to manage. What this shows me though is being region independent isn’t enough, not sure I’d want to base my app on AzureAD.

One thing to note, they did state "we are seeing increased traffic to out DNS servers." Was that just people desperately trying to get in or was it a DOS attack on their DNS infrastructure!

    Interesting!

    1. plunet

As it was a DNS based outage, it's not entirely surprising that DNS is a separate infrastructure for Azure in China. DNS is one of the methods the motherland imposes at a technical to limit access to some internet resources outside the country. Other methods are also in use.

      Re: Azure DNS

And by their definition they are at 100%, the 100% SLA is that a response is recieved, doesn't need to be correct, just a response from the dns server.
