back to article Northern Ireland announces £165m full-fibre rollout funded by 2017 DUP agreement with Theresa May's UK government

The Northern Ireland Executive has awarded a £165m contract to local infrastructure provider Fibrus Networks to expand gigabit-capable, full-fibre broadband to more than 78,500 rural homes and businesses. The initiative – called Project Stratum – will target regions where the prevailing speeds are under 30Mbps. These will …

    Hmm

Good on them. Shame May wasted her time refusing to get brexit done.

With Nissan probably on the way out of the UK, and I'm sure that Toyota, BMW and PSA will soon follow we'll be paying for BREXIT for the next 50+ years.

But where's Farage? Isn't he helping his mate Donald keep on saying 'I won, I won, I won bigly'.

This whole thing has been a disaster from start to finish. Farage, BoJo, Reece-Mogg et all lied and lied and sadly people believed them. Just like those who voted for Trump. Everything he said was lies.

Give it a rest, Brexit has happened. Either get over it and get on with your life, or go moan somewhere else.

No. It happens on Jan 1st. You ain't seen nothing yet.

And with the version of Brexit NI gets including a border in the Irish Sea broadband will be the least of their problems.

No, BREXIT was 1 Jan 2020. We remain in the customs union, free travel etc until the end of the year.

That's democracy for you (and I say that as a remain voter). Sometimes you get the party and ideas you like, sometimes you don't. The alternative where an 'elite' group decide what policies are best and the rest of us just go along with it doesn't really bear thinking about.

Both sides 'lied'. It's called politics. Vote leave exaggerated the benefits and ease of leaving. Vote remain exaggerated the disaster that would befall us if we even dared to vote leave, let alone actually go through with it. I'm still waiting for the emergency budget and interest rate rises we were told would happen within days of a leave result.

The UK isn't out of the transition period yet, let's see what happens in January (unless Johnson asks for an extension at the last minute).

The full force of Brexit hasn't hit us yet, we've just been coasting and wasting time along with billions of quid.

We can make rations cards in blue I'm told, if we speak nicely to a company in Argentina.

Or are you just cheering because: "Brexit!!!" ? Another example of anything goes if it's for brexit!

Apologies, I should have posted it on the side of a bus.

Or next to a big red "Turkey (Population 76MILLION) is joining the EU." poster so you could process it more easily. Soz.

Turkey wont be joining anytime soon, they fail on almost all of the tests for membership.

    "They also got broadband"

"We got Brexit, they also got broadband"

There's a typo there... it's "we" got broadband :). Considering my home is on 2Mbps ADSL at the moment (and I'm only 2 miles outside of one of the largest towns in the county), it's been a bloody long time coming! I don't know which to pray for first, Starlink in the UK or broadband actually getting it's act together.

Doing up the kitchen before sale.

Nice new broadband installed just before we get forced to finally give Norn Iron to the Oirish.
