back to article G'day mate, I'll take two tinnies, a packet of Tim Tams, some Vegemite, and a bork

Bork is going down under today after a Register reader eyeballed Windows doing its worst on a Canberra ATM. Spotted by eagle-eyed Byron at the Spar Express in the Ngunnawal suburb, this ATM looks to be giving itself a jolly good activating in front of bemused onlookers. Couldn't you have included some Australian clichés somewhere in the headline? I think that would have been funny.

      Well they didn't mention sheep...

You're confusing Australia with New Zealand

Shall we start with our respective positions on the world map?

Both countries are both very similar and very different in many ways: culture, accent, forms of government, ...

One used to be good at rugby and the other is really good at rugby

I've never known an Australian buy just the two tinnies either. Presumably they're for drinking while deciding how may 24-packs he can get through.

There was much dismay at the Bathurst 1000 race when fans were told that they have a limit of 24 cans of beer or four litres of wine per day

A slab of 24? Wasn't that half of David Boon's rider for the flight back from an Ashes tour?

Upvoted. But why does inverted text print "l" and "t" as descenders?

The capital S has also sunk. Does gravity work differently in Aussieland?

Mathematics apparently does, so why not?

(Replying to an old thread 'cos it was linked from the front page)

Because "inverted text" isn't actually inverted at all; it just uses carefully-selected unicode glyphs that resemble upside-down versions of the Latin alphabet. The closest equivalents for 'l' and 't' aren't quite perfect for the illusion, but close enough.

Happened to my OS/2 Warp (red) installation when I did a reinstall after a HDD upgrade...

...I just went out and bought the Warp3 (blue) with CDROM. Much easier.
