    China has brought this on itself. Wherever and whenever the CCP has disliked an app or way of doing things, they have either banned it, or have ensured key parts of the data operation have been moved to China.

    They now can’t complain when other countries treat them the same way.

    And self censorship has become a massive problem. No joint production films critical of China, ever, receive Chinese release or money. And every Chinese film has a moral in it about the individual submitting to the state or learning why it is better not to ever act against authority.

    This doesn't bode well for Huwei et el selling a non-Google Android on their phones outside of China. India was at least half that potential market (could have competed by undercutting price). Europe, Japan, Korea - no way to beat Google there. That still leaves a lot of developing countries across a few continents, but not much profitability.

    Well, I know that Baidu (headquartered in China) places a unque identifier on the users SDcard using the storage permission to track users:
