    What about Hashicorp Consul?

    Consul is a far more effective service mesh as it doesn't require K8s to for one and can synchronise its registry between services that are on or off K8s

    Good move

    With the success of Kubernetes, and the corresponding failure of Microsoft's sort-of equivalent, Service Fabric, it makes sense to own the new layer in between Kubernetes and the app. Google have potentially shot themselves in the foot with the oddness around Istio's trademark.
