back to article The only way is bork for the UK's embattled rail travellers

Come join your friends at The Register on a train journey to Bork. Or at least one to destination Aborted. Spotted by Register reader Ian – who resides in that trainspotter's paradise, a house beside a siding – something is not well with the South Western Railway train. Unless "Preinst aborted" is a station of which we are …

    sounds like pr0n to me

Probably a euphemism for this https://www.theregister.com/2019/05/13/london_rail_passengers_played_pron_noises_over_tannoy/

    I am confused ...

Is this the train to Preinst Aborted Central or does it go on Preinst Aborted Terminal as well?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll get my coat (not to go anywhere, of course, just as a matter of principle)

    Not a titsup situation

"Most likely the onboard Passenger Information System (PIS) has had a wobble during startup or a step in the boot sequence has been skipped for the display."

    A request stop in Austria?

"Preinst" doesn't sound very southwestern to me --- more like an obscure Austrian placename, perhaps?

(Austria has provided one of my overall favourite station names: Simmering Aspangbahn. I'm sure it could come up with a few more.)

    I expect

That that would make quite a good exhibit for the Bork Railway Museum!

    So...

Most likely the onboard Passenger Information System (PIS) has had a wobble during startup [...]

So, the Passenger Information System took the PIS, did it?
