back to article Aussie immunology legend consults Twitter for his local off-licence opening hours

For a country of habitual boozers where alcohol sales have leapt recently, Brits won't be surprised to hear that Australian immunologist and Nobel laureate Professor Peter Doherty was sitting at his computer yesterday when he felt the urge for a stiff drink. The instinct isn't foreign to many people as there remains no end in …

    Hopefully all y'all ...

... are using your sudden copious free time productively. Learning to homebrew is a nice, fun, wholesome project. And fun for the whole family!

Seriously ... make real gingerbeer and/or rootbeer with your kids. Once they make it for themselves, they'll never drink those narsty, store-bought sugar solutions erroneously called a "softdrinks" again.

      Drums away.

I have a number of 55 gallon drums that held pharmaceutical grade anhydrous ethanol.

Sadly empty before I got them.

They do work good to brew cider in though.

You would want to search "200L cask of single-malt Scotch" to get the GOOD stuff.

Well, great . . . now I really want a cask of Scotch!

Usually only the newer distilleries will sell you a new fill cask. I could suggest Arran?

Older casks are a bit pricey...

      Scotch-ish

I live in a country where it is legal to distill your own spirits, and even though my still only makes a couple of litres at a time I have trouble keeping up with it.

      Hic!

You want something really difficult to get and hideously expensive?

Ask for hand-sanitiser cut with orange juice.

        Isn't that basically Hooch?

Even Vulture Central, has stubbornly made its beloved Wednesday Club an online-only event – usually devolving into a blurry mess of party games like Left 4 Dead

I would also heartily recommend Nazi Zombie Trilogy to that list, you can even play with same characters as in L4D / L4D2

and I too, could be a PhD although in MY esteemed instance it would mean Pishhead :o)

I have a great love of Aussies and Kiwis. I think they have a better perspective on life than most of the western nations. A perspective I share.

It works for me! Who wants to be sober right now?

What started as a great insightful comment was ultimately ruined by the addition of a question mark

Thing is, it wasn't even a question.

It lacked a question mark... and yet it was answered!

Truly we live in an age of wonder.

      "It lacked a question mark"

Apparently Twitter, like Google, does not mandate question marks.

Sounds like Twitter is missing a trick by not showing relevant ads.
