Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said there are currently no plans to shut down bars and restaurants and order people off the streets, but that ministers would be guided by the scientific evidence.

But which science? The science that says it's okay to have 80% infected and millions dead, "many loved ones will die", to secure herd immunity, or the science which says it's best to save as many lives as possible?
I expect the only reason Johnson so quickly moved to that amazing "we will pay everyone's wages" is because he's utterly desperate to have his u-turn succeed to save his skin.

Cummings' big plan to let the virus run through the population and bugger the consequences got kicked into touch the moment the Italian deathtoll started climbing.
Boris subsequently shat himself, did a quick 180 and then put a spending package in place that the Corbynista couldn't even begin to dream of.

With the massive spending announcements and simultaneous removal of much tax revenue (deferred for now and much will be abandoned) any company making a profit should seriously consider volunteering money for support efforts. I'd certainly support laws nailing any profiteering activity.

A poll of Britain's intelligentsia found:

‘Who has introduced the best measures to combat the spread of coronavirus?’
Out of the 3,921 people who took the poll, an overwhelming majority stated Britain had done the best job.
65 percent (2,518) of people believed the Johnson Government had taken the best steps to tackle the virus.
This was compared to the eight percent (342) who voted for France, and the eight percent (327) who voted for Italy.
Spain was thought to be the least capable out of the group, with only three percent (148) respondents believing it had introduced the best measures.
