back to article All roads lead to Bork in Kansas as Windows puts on a show for motorists

The Reg skips lightly across the Atlantic to bring you premium Bork, fresh from the US of A in The Register's mercifully occasional series of computers behaving badly. Today's example of the breed was spotted by Register reader Josh while rolling along a highway near the Kansas city of Wichita. Normally exciting motorists …

Still, it's nice to see that problem being shared with drivers.

For a good five seconds, I was wondering how you were certain this was a driver issue.

    Hmm

"Still, it's nice to see that problem being shared with drivers."

Aren't many Windows problems due to shared drivers?

"Seen something borking in the wire?" Surely that should be "Seen something borking in the wild?"?

    road in Kansas

Inquiring minds want to know if the road was paved with yellow bricks.

This home working thing is getting a bit much. I'll get me coat but can't go anywhere though.

Nah, yellow bricks are nothing. We’ve got yellow snow.

Our bricks are currently yellow... from pine pollen.

A central premise of the film is that yellow brick roads are not found in Kansas.

Should do some Bob Dylan instead

"How many roads must a man Bork down...

... The answer my friend, is blowing in the Windows"

    Hey, I know this one!

    I actually do!

I live in Wichita and just so happen to have seen that sign and yes, it was broken when I saw it too.

    Here ya go.

This was taken back on April 6th 2019, they should really sort out there software on this thing.

Hell, no. That's one of the more pleasant billboards I've seen.

(When I'm driving through Kansas - which I do pretty frequently - one of the best moments is when I get the hell off I-70. Partly, of course, that's just because now I'm off I-70; but partly it's because billboards seem to be rare on the non-Interstate highways. US-40 is really quite pleasant with no giant advertisements to annoy you once you're through Oakley.)

Nah, looks more like a testimony of the resiliency unconditional Windows fans are capable of.

    Point of sale

Not a windows bug but irritating - a local pub with a cash register with a two line display where the programmer seems to have been unaware of the CRLF concept. As a result it comes up with messages like "LERK LOGGED OFF" and "Z SUMO LOGGED OFF".

I've never met Lerk or Sumo but they both sound a bit worrying. (The place is shut now anyway.)
